David Cook - American Idol is a True Inspiration

If you are like me, you watched last years American Idol with bated breath.  My favourite idol was David Cook, not only because he was a huge talent but because I thought he had a laid back but fun attitude.  I just found out that David Cook's brother has lost his lengthy battle with cancer.  I had no idea the hell he went through last year and this just brings home was an amazing person he really is.

The 26-year-old "American Idol" star, who often performs with a guitar emblazoned with his brother's initials, announced the sad news before the Race for Hope 5K in Washington, D.C.

"I actually lost my brother yesterday to a brain tumor," Cook said, choking up, "and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else right now."

Adam Cook, 37, landed in the spotlight in April 2008 when he watched his little brother compete live on "Idol" during a break in his chemotherapy treatment.
Residents from the Cooks' hometown raised over $45,000 for Adam to be flown in to participate.

David recently canceled two shows to "deal with personal family matters," his rep told People magazine. The singer reportedly spent the time with his ailing brother.

I have decided that this year, in commemoration of the passing of David Cooks brother (and also because I am a major Idol fanboy) I will host an American Idol Party for all my friends and family.  I have this great place that I get all my regular birthday party supplies from and they offer some specialty stuff that will make this soirée a blast!
